Ukrainians are among most ancient nations in Europe; Ukraine, however, is a very young country. Since independence had been proclaimed Ukraine was to go through many transformations in various spheres of life: political, economical, social and other. But activities aimed at forming a positive international image of the country, active informing the world community about nation's achievements and potential has long remained beyond attention both of the state, businesses, and society.
No surprise, Ukraine nowadays is being perceived by the world community quite superficially, and this perception does not correlate with reality. Most publications about Ukraine in western press are negatively colored and critical. And this has its explanation, since mass media is much more eagerly illustrate catastrophes, scandals and other sensational events.
We agree that many of the critical reports are quite objective and we are confident that further positive change in the country are necessary. We should, however, admit that the utter lack of positive information about Ukraine in the world informational environment leads to forming negative stereotypes in the world's perception of the country.
Ukraine lacks objective information about its up-to-date life. This creates obstacles for social and cultural interchange, has negative impact on business relations. And Ukraine is not the only looser because of this situation.
That's the reason why Mission Ukraine-Cognita has chosen a strategy of active informing about various spheres of modern Ukraine's life that would be of interest to our international partners:
